RISOMISO

RISOMISO, risographic publication, Matthäus Jandl

RISOMISO is a risograph-printed publication exploring fermentation as visual language. The premise: fermentation and risography share the same underlying logic — both are transformation processes defined by imposed constraints. Salt and pH determine one; registration drift and a restricted ink palette determine the other. It's precisely those limitations that produce the most complex, alive results.

To capture the gradual change of fermentation, a set of symbols — »RISOMISОjis« — was designed to tell a visual storyline throughout the book. Used standalone or arranged in a grid, they shift from sugar-like, crystalline structures into organic, abstract form. Generative code and bright riso colours let the images ferment on the page.
